The Kercher Group, Inc. and Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) were recently selected by the Federal Highway Administration Office of Bridges and Structures to author and present Bridge Management Systems (BMS) Workshops to State Department of Transportation (DOTs) and other public agencies. The purpose of the workshop is to advance the use of BMS software programs and analysis tools by State DOTs. The workshop explains in detail how the management systems can be used in supporting investment strategy analysis and selection, performance measurement and target setting, and project and program planning, with the goal of maximizing benefits and minimizing cost over the long-term.
“OUTSTANDING and extremely informative”
Several states have signed on to receive this workshop that describes the inner workings of BMS and their state-of-the-art use in an informal environment where agency personnel can ask questions and discuss areas of interest with Kercher’s Dave Juntunen and Charles Pilson. The team has presented several of these workshops throughout the county in 2019 and is looking forward to many more in 2020. A leading state DOT bridge engineer recently calls the Workshop “OUTSTANDING and extremely informative” in describing how the workshop would help “accelerate” their on-going BMS activities. One other state DOT bridge engineer described their group’s experience by saying, “I think we all learned some things that will help us to move forward.”
